Role overview
Leading and managing People and Operations function in VSO Bangladesh as a trusted people business partner providing leadership, expertise and high quality services to enable VSO people, employees and volunteers to deliver their best with VSO unique volunteering approach to development and People First are at the heart of all what we do contributing to the achievement of VSO’s mission to bring people together to end poverty

As a member of the country Senior Management Team, you will influence and provide strategic advice, develop and lead on the implementation of our people and organisation development strategies, ensuring that we continue to work together in a high performing team with accountability, resilience, social inclusion and gender embedded in our approach to achieve the country strategic goals. You’ll be working with international and national staff and volunteers– as well as global, regional and country teams, making sure we get the most out of our people resources. This will include leading on effective people resourcing, structure design and review, performance management, people information system and management, compensation and benefits, engagement, learning and development for both employees and volunteers.

You will be at the forefront of our efforts for transformational changes, supporting organisation development and embedding a people first culture. For the right individual, this could be a transformational career opportunity!

Skills, qualifications and experience required
You will have a professional HR qualification with extensive experience in Human Resources and Operations Management with a proven track record in learning and development, organisation development and change management, operations management and government relations. Your experience in international organisations -particularly in the humanitarian or development sectors- plus your understanding and experience of working with international and national volunteers, will be a great advantage. You will understand the importance of building strong relationships with people at all levels including government offices, with excellent collaboration and communication skills in English and Khmer language. Key to success is your leadership and people management skills plus your ability to manage a multi-cultural team to strive for excellence and deliver results. You will be customer-oriented, adaptable, problem-solver with solutions-focus. Most importantly, you will be committed to VSO’s purpose, mission, values and People First principles.
The role will involve travelling to different parts of Bangladesh. You will be able to travel occasionally and spend time away from base and home for up to 3 to 4 weeks per year.
